Why your “rest” is making you more tired…

Happy Friday Ladies,

We live in a loud, distracted world that constantly drains our energy. Today, I’m sharing a simple way to help you reclaim your time and restore some much-needed brain space.

We’ve all been there. The kids are finally in bed, the laptop is closed, and you finally have a moment to yourself. You sit on the couch, pick up your phone, and "just check one thing."

Flash forward 45 minutes: You’re deep into a reel about organizing a pantry you don't have, your eyes are burning, and you feel even more drained than when you sat down.

Earlier this week on Instagram, I confessed my own struggle with the "Martyr Complex"—that internal drive to do it all until we collapse. But I’ve realized that when we finally do stop, we often default to junk dopamine (scrolling) instead of true restoration.

This weekend, I want to challenge you to try a Dopamine Menu instead.

What is a Dopamine Menu?

It’s a pre-written list of activities that actually fill your cup, categorized by how much time you have. When you’re exhausted, your brain can't "think" of what to do—so it picks the phone. The menu does the thinking for you.

The Appetizers (5 Minutes or Less)

  • A quick somatic check-in: 4-7-8 breathing to reset your nervous system.

  • Step outside and look at the sky (natural light is a major energy booster).

  • Put on one high-energy song and just move.

The Main Course (20–30 Minutes)

  • Actually sitting down to enjoy a nourishing snack without a screen in front of you.

  • A warm bath with no podcasts—just quiet.

  • A brain dump of everything on your mind for next week so you can "park" the stress.

The Dessert (The Big Wins)

  • A walk in nature with a friend.

  • A full hour of "phone-free" play with the kids where you aren't checking the clock.

Bridging the Gap

If you’re reading this and thinking, "Ashley, I don't even have 5 minutes for an appetizer," that is a sign we need to talk.

My coaching practice is built to help you bridge the gap between the mom who is drowning in the mental load and the mom who has the agency to choose her own vitality.

I have 2 spots open for 1:1 coaching starting this month. If you're ready to move your stress from a 10 to a 2, book your free discovery call here. Or if you have my number, send me a text. I'm here for you.

Let’s make this weekend about more than just surviving.

With grit and grace,

Ashley
